Y CUP 1-Mile Run

Children in grades 4 and 5 (September 2025) 

May participate no matter what town you live in.

WHAT IS THE Y CUP 1-MILE RUN

A 1-mile run in conjunction with the Y's Apple Harvest Road Races

The Y CUP is open to all elementary-aged children - no matter the town/city or state

Participants will run the last mile of the Apple Harvest Road Race 5K 

  • Participants will meet at DePaolo Middle School before the race (8:00 a.m.) where Y staff members will coordinate and lead runners to the start of their mile run (On Woodruff Street).  Runners will start at approximately 9:10
  • Details will be provided to all families in advance
  • Y CUP finishers will be led to Y CUP holding area after they finish to be picked by their parent/guardian

Points and medals will be awarded to boys and girls in Southington elementary grade levels who finish in the top five of their respective grades.

The winning team in Southington will be awarded the prestigious Y CUP to keep in their school for a year.  Derynoski Elementary School was the proud winner in 2024.

Registration is open beginning April 1, 2025

Registration for Y CUP ends at 3 p.m. on October 4th.  There will be no race registration for Y CUP on Sunday, October 5

Registration is limited to 150 runners  

All participants within the first 750 signed up for any of the Apple Harvest Road Races will receive a t-shirt

All participants receive a bib

Results - Y CUP race results will be available Monday, October 6, 2025 at www.sccymca.org/apple

In the Southington School district, the fastest 5 boys' and girls' finishers in 4th and 5th grades will be recognized at their schools 

4th and 5th graders from outside of Southington will be eligible to participate and receive medals if they place in the top five of their division

Race Etiquette: Runners must follow Road Race etiquette and respect others.
