Apple Harvest Y CUP

WHAT IS THE Y CUP?

  • An exciting addition to our Apple Harvest Festival Road Race festivities
  • It’s a relay for 4th and 5th graders to get involved in the 5 K Race (3.1 miles) with students running legs of 1 mile, 1 mile and 1.1 miles
  • Points will be awarded to boy and girl teams for 4th and 5th grade levels.  Winning team will be awarded the Y Cup to keep in their school for a year.

DIVISIONS

  • Separate boy and girl divisions
  • Separate 4th and 5th grade divisions

NUTS AND BOLTS

  • Team will sign up in advance at their respective schools (parent waiver)
  • Cost is $30 per team (checks can be made out to the YMCA)
  • All participants will get a t-shirt and finishers medal
  • The Y requests that each school have a contact person – to help with collecting forms and troubleshooting any issues
  • All Y Cup participants will meet at the Y between 7:15 – 7:45 a.m. at the Ys Learning Center (30 High Street)
  • Y Cup participants who run the first leg (start of race to Mile 1) will stay at the Y Learning Center and will be escorted to start of race (on Columbus Blvd.) with Y staff/volunteers.  Once they finish running their mile, they will walk back to the designated Y Cup Pick-up in front of the Pepper Pot on Center Street with entire group of Y Cup participants where parents/guardians can sign out and pick up their child(ren)
  • Y Cup participants who run the 2nd leg (starting at Mile 1) will be driven via bus to the transition area on the course at 8:00.  They will be supervised by Y staff/volunteers.  When they complete their leg in transition area 2 (Mile), they will walk back to the Y as a group to designated Y Cup area in front of the Pepper Pot on Center Street where parents/guardians can sign out and pick up their child(ren)
  • Y Cup participants who run the 3rd leg (starting at Mile 2) will be driven via bus to the transition area on the course at 8:10.  They will be supervised by Y staff/volunteers.  When they finish, they will be brought to designated Y Cup area where parents can sign out and pick up their child(ren)

REGISTRATION

  • Registration form will be available to local schools the week of September 8th
  • Teams need to be formed with all waivers signed and returned no later than Monday, September 29th
