CMAK Sandy Hook Memorial Foundation, a foundation started by the Kowalski family who lost their son Chase in the Sandy Hook tragedy, founded Race4Chase. The Kowalski family wanted to capture Chase’s competitive spirit and vitality in creating a charity in his honor with a focus on health and wellness for children and their families.

The Race4Chase Youth Triathlon Program aims to provide kids ages 6-12 with a safe, healthy, non-competitive environment to discover the sport of triathlon. The free, six-week program, brings kids from all different backgrounds together and educates them about how to adopt a healthy lifestyle, coaches them to develop a foundation of athletic skills and inspires them to aim high in sports and in life.

In 2017, nearly 650 children , from 20 YMCA sites (including Southington!) throughout Connecticut (15 locations), Rhode Island (2 locations) and South Carolina (3 locations), will learn the sport of triathlon.

On August 5, 2017, an estimated 500 young triathletes from throughout Connecticut will demonstrate their skills at the Connecticut finale at YMCA Camp Sloper in Southington.  If anyone is interest in volunteering, contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
